Psoriasis is commonly known as "psoriasis", but this is not the standard name of western medicine or Traditional Chinese medicine. In Traditional Chinese medicine, psoriasis is similar to neurodermatitis in western medicine. It is also called "stubborn tinea" and "sore throat". As recorded in the Orthodox School of Surgery, "Psoriasis is like the skin of a cow's neck, stubborn and firm, and holding it like rotten wood". And the disease that western medicine calls "ringworm", be caused by fungus infection again mostly. In the 1950s, experts of Traditional Chinese and western medicine gathered together and named it "psoriasis" according to the characteristics of the erythema covering multiple layers of silvery white scales. As for "psoriasis", many experts have long proposed to abolish the name of the disease, advocate to "psoriasis" as the standard name. The reasons are based on the following two points:

(1) Psoriasis is not tinea. In modern medicine, tinea is caused by fungal infection, while psoriasis is not caused by fungal infection.

(2) Psoriasis name does not meet the requirements of medical ethics, causing a certain degree of psychological impact on patients.
