China has a large population, a vast geographical distribution, and a very large population mobility. It is a pity that up to now, the number of patients with psoriasis in China is still unknown.

        An epidemiological survey of psoriasis in China in 1984 showed that the prevalence of psoriasis varied from region to region, with a prevalence of 0.153% in southern cities, 0.227% in northern cities, 0.078% in southern rural areas, and 0.176% in northern rural areas, with a total prevalence of 0.123%. The same method was used in different years, and the results showed that the prevalence rate increased year by year. For example, the prevalence rate in the Shanghai population in 1973 was 0.217%, compared with 0.267% in 1985. Bao Yinde et al. reported that the prevalence rate in taizhou, Jiangsu was 0.147% in 1984, and 0.235% in 1996. In a survey published in 2010 in six provinces and cities in China, a total of 19,974 people were sampled, 17,345 people completed the survey, and 102 patients with psoriasis were found. The overall prevalence rate was 0.59% and the standardized prevalence rate was 0.47%, among which the male prevalence rate was 0.65% and the standardized prevalence rate was 0.54%. The prevalence in females was 0.54% and the standardized prevalence was 0.44%. There was no statistically significant difference in the prevalence of psoriasis between men and women. In the clinical classification, the majority of patients were patients with vulgaris (97.06%), 28.43% of the patients had a family history of psoriasis, and 59.80% of the patients believed that psoriasis affected the quality of life. Based on the national population of 1.3 billion, conservative estimates of the number of patients with psoriasis in China at this stage range from 7 to 8 million. And one thing is for sure, the prevalence is higher in the north than in the south, and higher in the cities than in the countryside.
