Does psoriasis have anything to do with climate?

Source:Psoriasis science popularization    Date:2020/09/14    Browse:2005 second

In northern China, the temperature is low in winter and the humidity is low, so the air is relatively dry. In summer, the humidity increases relatively. In many areas, humidity is serious, especially in southern China, where the humidity is relatively high in summer. The relationship between the occurrence or aggravation of psoriasis and environmental climate is not clear. Under the support of the National 863 Program, we conducted a large sample of psoriasis epidemiological investigation in local areas of China, and the investigation results showed that 22.5% of patients with psoriasis had a significant relationship with relatively high humidity. Long-term exposure to humidity makes the skin prone to maceration and erosion, which is conducive to the proliferation of bacteria and causes skin infection, which has a very serious impact on patients with psoriasis. Psoriasis patients in the choice of housing, as far as possible to avoid moving into a damp house, the bedroom is best to choose a sunny side, and the room use area should be large, good ventilation, in order to reduce the recurrence of psoriasis. In addition, in terms of clothing, patients with psoriasis should try to choose soft and breathable pure cotton clothing, and pay attention to dietary taboos and structure.

The prevalence of psoriasis in China is higher in the north than in the south. There is no clear answer as to why this phenomenon occurs. It is generally believed that the air humidity is relatively lower than the south, relatively dry air, the prevalence of supposedly psoriasis in the general population should be less than the south, but the reverse is true, perhaps the northern atmospheric pollution is relatively heavier than the south, such as PM2.5 and PM10 atmospheric pollution index is generally higher than the south, such as whether these constitute the cause of the high incidence in the north also don't know.
